While "glowing stuff" is hardly unique to the Azure Weald, the sheer proliferation of it in this region continues to mystify the Research Department.
Sodium is fundamental for the development of the Q'ronar's shell. For this reason, the region is often populated by this creature's offspring.
Multiple hazards in this region will reduce your body temperature, which can result in a frozen state. The local hot springs caused by gasses filtering up from the planet's core provide much needed spots to warm yourself up.
Crystal clusters can be found all around the region. Some varieties have luminescent properties and others discharge dangerous bursts of electrical buildup.
The surface's material is especially dense. It will take multiple hits from your Pickaxe to be breached.
The humidity of this region provides ideal conditions for fungi to grow. Their consumption is firmly discouraged by the company.
Sudden tectonic shifts can cause the landscape of this region to shift dramatically, in mere seconds. The resulting cracks will expose hot eruptive rock that must be avoided to prevent a suit overheat.
Sporting some of the most fertile soil of all Hoxxes, this region is home to diverse and abundant species of plants. The ever-present grass can obscure the visibility of certain threats.
An everpresent threat in this region, magma frequently erupts in great plumes from the ground below your feet. Extreme caution is advised.
Thin layers of ice can collapse under your weight. Slow reactions might mean a trip into a deep, narrow crevasse.
The alluring Mobula Cave Angel is a non-hostile inhabitant of the Azure Weald, and feeds exclusively on the bioluminescent algae so common in the local flora.
Unusual levels of radiation have caused growth and mutations in various creatures. These mutations have altered their characteristics, turning some into dangerous sources of radiation.
Sources of radioactivity are omnipresent in this area. Very few organisms can survive in these conditions, so only a thin layer of residual ash covers most of the ground.
Rare filtrations combined with the high density of salt have created singular structures of this mineral. While they can be helpful for traversal, some can easily collapse.
Internal wind currents constantly lash the walls of this region eroding all terrain. The compacted sand is the least resistant material on Hoxxes IV and can easily be removed with a pickaxe.
The singular sedimentation process of the region results in spectacular and complex cave formations. The intricate terraced walls can pose a traversal challenge.
The aggressive alien fungi proliferating in this region secretes all kinds of nasty spores and liquids. Pools of viscous slime will slow your pace, while your respiratory system will be put to the test by clouds of poisonous air.
To the best of our knowledge, the invasive red vines seen in the Hollow Bough is a recent development. Competing species of mega-flora? Seems to fit the general gist of Hoxxes pretty well.
The region is dotted with natural vents, blowing gale-force winds into the caves, and are strong enough to propel you in any direction. Additionally, wind storms frequently occur, severely reducing visibility and movement capabilities.
The magnificent wooden structures of the Hollow Bough really puts the biological oddity that is Hoxxes on display. It is estimated the weight of even one is in the billions of tons.
